The Leader as Servant

How do you serve those whom you lead?

"..the leader is the 'servant' of his (or her) followers in that he (or she) removes the obstacles that prevent them from doing their jobs.  In short, the true leader enables his or her followers to realize their full potential."

  1. Wow! Am I glad I looked back in the archives and found this quote.

What a powerful idea to fuel a definition of leadership. Leadership is setting staff up for success. Co-develop the goals to build buy-in and ownership, lay out the tools, give the space, time and support they need to succeed.

"What can I do to help you?" is so much more empowering than "I want you to do it this way."
